In honour of LGBT History Month, and in solidarity with the cities celebrating Pride this month, a photo from my first NYC Pride (2015).
This year, Pride means that much more. Having grown up in central Florida, the Pulse shooting literally hit home; many of my friends live near the club and/or almost went there that night. I don’t think any LGBT person can say that things will ever be ‘normal’ again because of it, but it does strengthen the resolve. Not only must we fight for legal rights, we must continue the long, hard road of acceptance amongst our families, friends, neighbours and peers. That is where love, respect and acceptance grows.
